How it works
About the loan prepayment calculator
A part-prepayment reduces the outstanding principal, so less interest is charged on it in future. Keeping the EMI the same and shortening the tenure usually saves the most interest.
The formula
Interest saved = Interest on original schedule − Interest after prepayment
Both schedules use the same interest rate.
Frequently asked questions
Are there charges for prepaying?
For floating-rate home loans taken by individuals, banks in India generally do not charge prepayment penalties. Fixed-rate and business loans may carry charges; check your loan terms.
