About the retirement calculator
Your expenses at retirement will be far higher than today because of inflation, and they keep rising every year after you retire. The calculator works out the corpus needed to pay those rising expenses until the age you choose, assuming the corpus stays invested at a conservative return.
Savings you have already set aside for retirement are grown to your retirement age and reduce the SIP you need.
The formula
A = annual expenses in the first year of retirement, T = years in retirement.
Frequently asked questions
What return should I assume after retirement?
Most retirees move towards safer investments, so a lower return than during working years is prudent. 6% to 8% is a common planning assumption.
Does this include EPF or NPS?
Enter any money already earmarked for retirement under ‘Retirement savings so far’. Future EPF or NPS contributions reduce the SIP you need to make separately.
