About the SIP calculator
A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) invests a fixed amount in a mutual fund every month. Over long periods, the returns earned on earlier instalments start earning returns of their own, which is why time in the market matters more than the size of any single instalment.
Move the sliders or type exact values. Turn on annual step-up to raise your SIP every year by a percentage or a fixed amount, as your income grows.
The formula
P = monthly SIP, r = annual return ÷ 12, n = number of months. With step-up, the calculator compounds each month’s actual instalment.
Frequently asked questions
How is SIP return calculated?
Each monthly instalment is compounded at the monthly equivalent of the return you choose, from the month it is invested until the end of the period. The calculator assumes you invest at the start of every month.
What is a step-up SIP?
A step-up (or top-up) SIP raises your monthly instalment every year, either by a percentage or by a fixed amount. Because most incomes rise over time, stepping up lets your investments keep pace and can make a large difference to the final value.
Are the returns guaranteed?
No. Mutual fund returns depend on markets and vary from year to year. The calculator uses one constant rate to illustrate the effect of compounding; actual results will differ.
What is the minimum SIP amount?
Many schemes accept SIPs from ₹500 or ₹1,000 a month, but the minimum is set by each scheme. We can help you choose schemes that suit your amount and goal.
